Residing within the ever expansive beat scene but never pigeon-holing himself to one genre or style, Fthmlss is an avid lover of all things Hip-Hop, Downtempo and a sucker for those deep and meaningful moments that take your thoughts to another place. Taking inspiration from various scenes and cultures around the world from Ambient piano scores to Ghanaian polyrhythmic percussion, a wide variety in taste can often lead to some unexpected pleasures.
With releases on platforms such as Atlantic Chill (Atlantic Records’ Lofi sister label), Chill Beats, Effortless Audio, Village Live, Aviary Bridge and many more, Fthmlss has certainly made a mark within the scene and continues to practice and perfect his craft behind the scenes.
The first milestone for Fthmlss was certainly with the release of his debut album ‘Aloe’ back in 2019. A collection of warm and soulful beats that heavily focused on various forms of expressionism and an underlying appreciation for the flora and fauna we are blessed with in this world.
2020 saw the release of ‘Misplaced’, a second album that shone a light over his more technology driven side incorporating more heavily processed Synthesizer based beats. Telling the story of struggles one can face in the midst of society and rang true to many as the globe was put into lockdown.
After catching the ear of Folded Music head – Asta Hiroki he received his first national radio play as part of his ‘Introspective mix’ for Huey Morgan on BBC6Music for mental health awareness week. Since then the two connected and Fthmlss is due to release a string of material via Folded starting with his ‘Anxious’ EP due early 2022.
